Report on 1 st Guest Lecture Organised by Corporate Law Committee

On 2nd July, 2015, the Corporate Law Committee had arranged for a guest lecture Mr. Jamie Maslen- Chief Consultant for Asset Management for Government of Australia; Mr. Dharmesh Mahnot- Country Head for Asset Management and Mr. Neelesh Bhantia- Sole Managing Partner of Banthia and Co. Advocates for the 4th Year Undergraduate batch of SLCU. The first speaker for the day was Mr. Jamie Maslen. His lecture focused on asset management and the connection of the same with corporate laws.

He also introduced the topic of asset management and discussed how the same is in Australia and India. This comparison helped us understand the position of the same in the two similar but different countries. Our second speaker for the day Mr. Dharmesh Mahnot gave the analysis of the topic in India. This was very insightful as the speaker gave an in-depth analysis of the same. He inspired us to take up the same in India. The speaker also said that asset management is different from asset maintenance that is usually practised in India. The final speaker of the day, Mr. Neelesh Banthia was very insightful and gives us tips to join the practise and patiently answered all our queries.

Various questions from the topics discussed and in general the practise of law was all answered by the speakers. The guest speakers highly appreciated the interactive session with the students. The Committee expects a high return on investment from this guest lecture and would be always be serving for achieving the motto of ‘excellence and service’. The photographs of the event are enclosed with this report.

The Committee would like to express gratitude to the management of SLCU for permitting to organise an enriching learning opportunity for the students.
